Founded in 2012 as the brand and communications tool of the already established Purnadi Phan Photography, think archipelago starts with the first volume of the international edition in February 2013. However, what is found in the magazine no longer complies with its initial purpose. The fledgling publishing company has swiftly recalibrated its standpoint from merely endorsing a particular photography company to undertaking a substantial portion of responsibility to help solving social problems around us. Its new aim is to gain prominence in the open era of modern information industry.

In doing so, we have made it imperative to eschew the notion of being agents of influence, talking about the world in their eyes only as typically demonstrated by vocal publications around the world. Instead, we want our readers to be our most ardent critics. That way we know that we are walking side by side on the same direction to becoming a self-sustaining society, one that is able to fend off biased opinions and inquire on taught judgments. It is not the free distribution that makes the magazine best, but the quality of the content which originate from the ideas and merits of exceptional people who fill think archipelago desk.
